Anybody know the overall dimention of the lowering spool on a 1070 3 point hitch.I have a 1070 that somebody must have fooled with because the hitch will only go half way down.I think they shortened the spool even if i manualy run the main spool from full raise to down it only goes half way down and stops.

There is a very precise method for setting the length of that screw using a micrometer setup to determine spool travel between lower and raise so it is imperative that it not be changed. If it has been messed with you will need a factory service manual for guidance. There is no measurement given whatsoever. If someone on forum had one apart that they could measure to at least give you a starting point that would be helpful. I agree with others, check all the external stuff, the rod that goes up underneath the tractor to make sure it is not damaged or unhooked, the sensing lever and cable should be looked at also.

Don't do anything with the lowering spool until the last resort. Check that the springs that go from the shaft that the arms are on and go to the front draw bar bracket have tension. Also make sure the lower sensing rod is hooked up. Make sure both cables are working as they should.
