800 Case-o-Matic Pump

Im attempting to revive an 800 diesel COM tractor which has not run in about 15 years. I had it fired up and had no converter or clutch oil PSI, the clutch pedal and COM lever seemed ineffective, and I was able to slip the gear shifter into any gear with no grinding and the tractor would not move. The COM oil level was at the full mark but it seemed the pump isnt moving any oil. I dropped the oil today and cleaned the filter which seemed to have very little debris in it. Could I have an airlock in this pump? Is it possible it just needs to be primed? I noticed on the COM pump housing a small brass petcock, so Im wondering if the pump is weak and needs to be primed or just open the petcock to release an airlock. Anyone else have a similar issue with the COM pump?
Thanks
Richard

i assume you are not the one who parked it 15 yrs ago. this might have something to do with it getting parked. petcock might be what kept it going to the end. my 2cents worth. ps do you know PO??

Sadly I dont know the previous owner, just getting it running has been an adventure , my Uncle towed it home 10 years ago and found the fuel pump shaft sheared, so had the shaft replaced but was unable to get it running. I found the pump out of time internally, once I straightened that out I did get it to fire up. No doubt Ill find a lot more issues on my journey.

So as it turns out the pump needed to be primed, its likely a little worn . I used a squirt can and pumped a few cup fulls of oil down through the test port fitting on the pump while running. At first it didnt seem to help till I added some throttle, then it proceeded to pump about a gallon and a half of oil out on the ground in a few seconds. It seems to operate ok in Caseomatic, but doesnt seem to lock up in direct, the direct position seems to work the same as COM. So that doesnt seem right, I think Ill use a test gauge and see what pressure its putting out from the pump , as well as the converter psi. Its possible the clutch disc is burned out of the direct side, too soon to tell.

Anxious to see your findings. I have good pump pressure, but no converter pressure from top of control valve on 611-B . Chuck Machinist

OK Chuck

I put a gauge on the pump side and found good pressure( I used a 200 psi gauge ) and it was wrapped all the way around with cold oil, but settled to
180-200 psi when warm. I put a gauge on the side of the LH manifold block to measure the COM psi, it read 15-18 psi which is low, the book calls for
30-40 psi depending on the model #. I did find that my COM lever is slightly out of rig, its fine in COM or down but when I pull it up into direct it pulls
past the detent and doesnt lock up, if I push it back down a half inch or so I can feel it drop into the detent and feel the tractor pick up speed. In COM
position it will coast to a stop with low throttle in a higher gear and then accelerate away with increase in throttle. In direct it will not coast to a stop, it
will stall the engine. It remains to be seen if the 18 PSI is enough for it to pull a load in direct, but for now Ill call it a win.
