hello my problem started when i would push the clutch in the motor would shut down very harsh and quick. so i found a valve stuck in valve body and smoothed valve and cleaned valve body and it worked a few more times then started shutting motor down again so replace whole valve body and still same problem now i busted the torque limiter all to pieces. I have the tractor split now and was wondering if i should just replace torque limiter and put back together or do you think i need to take out power shift compontents to see if i've hurt them also. I have never removed a power shift but know this wont fix the locking up problem Thanks for Reading Robert

With the tractor split it now is a excellent time to inspect the power shift. The stuck spool in the control valve could have caused damage to a clutch pack. Use a
service manual from Case and you will do fine, Rod.

Hello Robert welcome to YT. I can only hope you left
part of the story out and you changed the filters and
hydraulic fluid. My question would be did you find any
filings in the filters? Often something has went wrong
in the drivetrain and causes filings to be circulated in
the system. This in turn causes the filters to plug and
then bypass unfiltered oil. Then the filings start
scoring up spool valves and bad things start
happening. So I agree with Rod inspecting as needed
while it is apart is almost mandatory. My Dad and uncle
farmed together and back in the 80s bought a used
1070 I want to say it had less then 2000 hours on it.
Well a an engine valve went out. So me and a buddy
who went to Ag Mechanics tech school tore into it.
When we got done it had an in-frame overhaul. Then
got it all together and thought it would be a good time
to change the hydraulic fluid. Pulled the plug no oil
came out. Plugged with fillings. Turned out the
differential had went out.
Edit: Got into my 1070 story and forgot to mention the manuals, I linked those offered by YT! I do not like to mention it here but I will make an exception. If you are okay with a computer download PDF of the manual you can go to a site called Farm Manuals Fast. They have the 1000 plus page edition for about a 1/3 of the price.

yes in did leave out the fluid changes. i changed the fluid and filters the first time the fluid was milky like water in system but i did not cut filters apart to inspect for metal the system was pretty clean but read alot about this system really needing to stay real clean so after the first changing and removing valve body several times to clean valves i changed fluid and filters a second time as well. i did buy the pdf repair manuel and am starting the removal of power shift to ck out when i get out ill ck back. one thing i didnt mention at the same time the valve would stick and lock motor down the left brake would start locking down and i had to remove hydraulic line to brake drum or it would just lock brake down could this be caused by the valve body or power shift ? and thank both of you for taking time to look
