I spotted what I think is a vac 14 today, but maybe a vai. It is new style 14 but no id tag. I have never seen a new style vai, but this one had some things that made
me wonder. It has adjustable wide front. Did any vai have that? The throttle is mounted on the right side of the cowling I thought, but wait it has a belt pully so
maybe that lever being above it is the to engage the pully. The claws on the eagle hitch are not claws but square looking claws with a rectangular bar that flips over to
lock. I have not seen anything like that, unless someone broke the originals and made these. I would be interested in figuring out the year if possible with the ID tag
gone. Thanks for all the expert advice I know I will get.

Not sure as I didn't have long to look at it. It was above the belt pully and there were levers going down from there. I assumed it was hooked to the governor rod. On first post I reasoned maybe it was for the belt pully, but as I recall it is notched like a throttle so I am sure that was why I thought at first that is what it was. The tractor has had some work, being converted to 12v and the weird brackets instead of claws.

i did but not of that side

It is a 14 as far as I can tell. That linkage on the right side reminded me of a speed overide on an old vai. However, it would seem a vai would have a solid axle, and this is adjustable. I have a 51 with the crooked steering, so I am familiar with that.

IIRC I think other than the lower profile the VAC14 has foot boards near the bottom of the transmission like the 300 and the VAI has foot boards up at the top of the transmission like the other VA's.

All VAI's kept the old style sheet metal through the production run, and had 24 rear wheels. Some but not many had factory eagle hitch. Your tractor looks like a VAC 14 to me, but who knows what has been changed through the years. This is my 1955 VAI.

Thanks for clearing that up. The belt pully and the adjustable front axle and 28 wheels eliminate a VAI. I did not know they didn't change the the styling on those in 1951. It definitely has late 51 steering on it, so can't be a vai no matter how else it is presented.
