I'm new to Case tractors..I've taken an interest in a 1030 row crop for sale.I would use it for leisure is there anything to look out for other than the usual.I would like to dress it up with weights are they hard to find I live in the midwest.
Thanks

Take a 1 1/16 wrench and crack the oil drain plug. Screw out slowly and look for coolant to come out...if none, it should be a good engine. 1030s had sleeve problems and if pulled hard and not cooled down could crack heads.

I have a 1030 with a factory cab and weight in the wheels and wrap around front weight with 2 or 3 rectangular ones on the front of that. You can find weights. I bought 3 of the front weights at an auction this fall for $65 each. They are good tractors. Have fun. Bill

We absolutely love our 1030. However, they have a reputation for hard cold starting if the motor is not up to par. It is said that if you walk past a 1030 with an ice cream cone it won't start. LOL
