Case 580b alternator?

Hi can somebody take a picture of their 580 b and post it here as to how the alternator gets mounted onto the engine. I bought mine without an alternator mounted and need to know exactly how it gets bolted up and wired? Thanks Matt

Here are a couple pictures from the web that used along with the parts drawing should give what you need for mounting info. Post a picture of the idler pulley set up you said is on it. They may have used the alternator mounts with that.

As for wiring the alternator, you need tell what you have for an alternator and how it is regulated to get the proper wiring info. I doubt any one here can tell for certain what alternator you have at present. What you have in hand may not be the original and wiring could be different. Post pictures if you don't know what you have.

Will it hurt the alternator at all if it's
not hooked up wiring wise to charge the
battery? in other words if it's just
mechanically hooked up and rotating with
the engine for now until I can get the
wiring deciphered?

It can run as an idler if the wires are not connected. Do you know the alternator is good?

I asked as you posted your 580B was without one mounted, which could mean there was a used one with it, just not mounted. as well as just plain missing one. Good it's a new one, so you know what you have, which should make wiring it simple.
