winding up differential ? on a 730 ?

Well Shux, My Nephew and i know to keep tires equal on a pickup to avoid that might cause rearend troubles, But, that dont hold true for tractors does it? help Me and James settle our wonderment, Guys. I now have a 18.4 x34 on the left side and a 16.9 x34 on the right on a 730 Comfort King and i intend to run the rest of hay season that way . btw, We did this To Our 800 50 yrs. ago with no ill effects.

it is not going to hurt a thing with 2 different tires, being pickup or tractor. that is what the spider gears are for . no different than going around corners when one wheel turns faster than the other. you get the trouble when stuck and one wheel dont turn and the other wheel is going 60 mph. that is when the spiders get welded to the shaft, with prolonged spinning.

As long as the tires have the same aspect or profile, it shouldn't hurt. A 13.6 and a 15.5 have the same profile, so they pretty much match, much the same for an 18.4 and a 20.8. So, you should be OK. But, a 13.6 and a 16.9, and you're gonna be lopsided. It's OK temporarily, but you don't want to do it for long.

That tractor likely spent thousands of hours with the furrow wheel turning slower the the other while plowing under full load. Anyone who has plowed knows the left wheels pins a lot more than the furrow wheel. Any load while haying is certainly not going to cause issues.
