So Im in the middle of the Tractor restoration, and Im trying to figure out why it pops out of fwd gear so easily. I already played with the shifter cover and I dont see any wear and the detent works well. It seems like it doesnt have enough travel to lock it into fwd gear, and its barely on the edge of engagement. I pulled the cover off again and checked the gear end-ply and it appears to be 0.015-0.020, which i believe is acceptable. Im beginning to believe that this Shuttle assembly was worked on previously, and someone installed the synchro slider in backwards. The Synchro slider is on the left side of the photo, and has a flat-beveled side, and a stepped profile side. On my tractor the stepped profile side faces the backside of tractor.
In the parts catalog for a 310B. it show the stepped profile side facing forward. In the parts catalog for a 210B, it has a machined grooved facing forward (not steps profile).
Does anyone have a photo of a 210B's shuttle synchro with the proper orientation?

Dave, I m going to send you this out of the Yt shop service manual I am sending you two pictures one exploded view of shuttle and low range gear units, and sectional view of torque tube showing the dual range shuttled gear boxing installation. The unit is bolted to the front of the regular transmission and provides eight forward and eight reverse speeds. I hope You find this useful. Chuck machinist

Hello Chuck,
I have the same manuals but it didnt answer my questions. You can see the annular groove in your drawing, but mine doesnt have a groove; it has steps.
Maybe someone can pop the 4 bolts out of their tractor torque tube and snap a photo for me.

My looks about the same as yours just not quite as much wear on the rear bevel. I am pretty sure that that was machined like the front side when new. The parts book shows the sane collar for 200b, 300, 300b and 400b. Joe should be along shortly to give some instight as to the problem. My works just fine, of course it probably dont have 10 hours on it since a complete rebuild.

I got my tractor back together and running. I had a little scare because the clutch was stuck to the flywheel due to heavy power washing (rust). I'm still looking for a fix for the synchro that constantly pops out of forward gear.
