I cut down my rye cover today. I have a NH siclebar mower that I like to use as (when it works like it should) it lays every thing down in a flat mat and I plant squash, tomatoes etc right in the mat. Well it wasn't working very well today. The mix of peas, vetch and rye is really thick and wet. I had all sorts of problems with the stuff not clearing the bar and then it broke. I got out the Vac and Case cutter. Here are pictures and a video. I only took less than 1/2 a swath as I was trying cut most of it so all got cut except that under the right wheel. I am amazed at how quiet that thing cutter runs. It could not have taken a full swath as thick as it was. I tried it and got 1/2 way across the 50' lot before the tractor and cutter complained. By the way, at age 71 I did back up to this and caught it with the claws the first time. I think I could have even hooked the top link, but quit all that twisting around as I had to hook up the pto anyway.

Ken, you have a very nice set ,tractor and chopper. keep me posted on how your garden crops do. Jerry from Ohio

I think I bought the tractor and cutter from the original family. The guy said it was his grandads tractor and all it did was run that cutter. THe guy would be about 60 years old now, and doesn't remember them not having that combo. I once thought of selling the cutter, but after yesterday i don't think I will sell it unless I sell the VAC. It would be interesting to know when Case went to the new style in 1951. I am the same year as the tractor, and my birthday is June 9. This was the 201st tractor of the new style. I wonder if it was made on my birthday. Those build cards got burned up in a fire so I won't ever know for certain.
