Help with a fair price for a 430

Hi all, new here and needing some advice for a fair price to offer on a not running 430 gas model. I guess that will technically be a 440. Really nice shape on the tin and looks like everything is in place and intact. Always been outside and last started maybe a year and a half ago. Not sure if it is locked up, or what may be wrong with it yet. They said it moved ok, would start but just not stay running at the last attempt. Also, I have a parts 530ck that I picked up along with a 530ck backhoe. Would the parts swap over from the 530? Heard they were the same frame but just different guts on the motor and trans. Haven't been able to look thru the shop manual yet and was hoping for a quick knowledgeable answer for that part. Thanks all!

Condition of the tires on the 430? Fenders straight? Not locked up? lets talk some more! What part of the country is it in. Prices
will vary.CM

Hi Chuck! I'm in Ontario Canada, prices here seem a bit higher than state-side, so for me I'd do a conversion or just add 10% to what is suggested on the price. Not sure of tire condition or total amount of rust/wear through. Without pics I'd try to describe it as better than most for a 60 year old machine From what I remember I would honestly say it is at the higher end of a model of it's year. From what I saw on your pics, it kinda looks like what your in the forest pic looks like. In the middle between a restored model and a good running average maintained model for the body, a little less than halfway between a basket case and a good daily runner on the engine, (since it doesn't run right now).

When I got into my 441 utility , I found the 3 point lift piston had to be rebuilt. Not an expensive repair , but nothing a good
weekend would not cure. I did have to get into the torque tube at the clutch housing and replace a seal there, again not a lengthy
or hard project , again a weekend job. My email is open. I would hate to put a price on her , but I would like to share my rebuild
with you, Chuck Machinist

This where I got before a Case enthusiast said ill take her from you as she is.

IMHO, $1000 if tires are poor, $1500 if tires are decent. Never pay top dollar for a tractor that doesn't run. You have no idea if the engine, transmission, rear end, hydraulics, PTO, etc. are any good. I've been burned too many times. Don

I'm just outside of Brantford Ontario. Have a couple of salvage places a couple hours away, but parts for Case seem very slim in the way of used. A couple of months back I picked up the 530ck backhoe for 5000, runs and works but boy is it rough, the companion 530ck with just a loader was 500, was in great shape but missing pieces and a non-runner as well. I'd love to do a full resto on the 530 loader since it has the 3pt on it, but I have to find the PTO parts as it just has the cover plate over that spot right now. As for the 430, I was thinking 1500 on the top end, lowest was at least scrap price of around 750 to be fair. Tires were up on it but unsure as to how bad they got sun baked and dry cracked. Any quick answer as to if the 530 loader parts would swap into the 430 without a problem? Or am I going to have to search thru the manual for that info...lol

Chuck I gotta say that is a beauty. How many hours into it to get it to that point and if you don't mind me asking, how much you into for to bring it around to look like that. Like to get an idea of how much I'm going to be looking at to get playing this game.

If you get a parts manual, and I suggest john Saeli for that manual, you will be able to cross reference what parts are
interchangable between the two tractors. I must resist in telling you what I gave for mine ,as we are in two different regions of
North America, and s we know, there is a great disparity in pricing tractors from region to region.CM

As to how many hours I had into her was too many, as when I do a project I give my all to each restoration. I have never had a
complaint to any that I have passed on to other collectors. I am a purist when I restore.CM

Well, I know I have to pay to play...so I guess it's a how far down the rabbit hole am I willing to go...lol. Thanks for the input on the pricing, going to have a better look at it tomorrow. Seems sentiments are about the same for me on reasons why not to pay top dollar, so 1500 seems probably top end and most 1000 is reasonable to take a chance on. Be able to get my money back in parts for sure if all fails miserably. Hopeful for an easy fix, she's a cute little tractor!
