630 - Trans question

I have a 641 triple range I'm wanting to restore, but it pushes fluid out of the gearshift boot in road gear. I'd like to fix that before I paint obviously. The fluid level appears right in the rear end and the torque tube. The gearshift boot doesn't look to be in terrible condition, is it as simple as replacing that?

No, the boot isn't the culprit. It sounds as though the oil level is high. The tranny-diff dipstick is under your left butt cheek, under the seat and it has a notch in it. The notch is toward the bottom of the stick. The other possible cause is incorrect weight oil. It needs 85W140 Gear lube in the Tranny-Diff.

Fluid level was good there, so I suppose someone put hydraulic fluid in there instead of gear lube. I guess I'll drain it tonight, it was on the to-do list anyway. Thanks.
