I just bought a Case 580 CK backhoe trying to find out the year and can somebody help me figure out how to disassemble the oil bath air filter so I can replace the filter part. Is it a canister or do I have to replace the whole thing. Thank you for all your help appreciated in advance.

Is it s 580 CK A,B,C,D,E,F etc. which one can make a difference as to how to do things

Well, I think the 580 CK was the only one with an oil bath. I don't know that there was an A model and I believe the B and after were dry air cleaners.

Removing the mesh from most all oil bath air cleaners usually requires grinding or otherwise removing the welds holding the lower frame in place. I don't have one for a 580 to look at to detail what would be required on your 580CK. What is the reason you want to remove the mesh?

I did not know if you remove the mesh or
not when I posted this and now I know you
do not remove the mesh. I am soaking it
in diesel fuel right now and then
tomorrow I am going to blow it out with
air. Thank you for your help would you
happen to know what oil I should put in
the oil bath part as far as what grade or
doesn't that matter. Again thank you for
your help.

Same oil as you use in the engine.

The Serial Number gives all the information. First section in manual breaks it out. It may be the page where you put s/n, model and any mods. I have a 580B also air has circular set of filters and w/o oil. CK extendahoe. If you need the page let me know.

Your 580CK should have the serial number tag in the location shown in the attached picture. If you only find a couple 1/8" rivet holes in that location, the tag is gone and you may never ID it exactly as to year, etc. TractorData says the 580CK was produced 1966 to 1971.

When you can, post some pictures of it and the fellows here may be able to give you a closer range of the year for things they see. You may need to go down to the test forum and make test posts, trying to post pictures. New users often need more than 5 posts on record before they can post pictures. Or go to The Site Comments Forum and ask YT Support to allow you to post pictures.
