1175 PTO clutch brake too thick?

Rebuild the PTO clutch on my 1175. I ordered a replacement brake friction, and it looks like its too thick material. When I try to assemble the PTO clutch drum it bottons out on the brake friction and prevents it from seating

Part number is good.

Anyone have this happen before?

Thinking to just thin the friction material out about an 1/8

That does look awful thick. I have repaired many through the years, but I always install the brake assembly that had the bonded lining . I never have repair one by replacing the pad but from what I can tell from your pic it certainly looks thicker than the original, Rod.

We had the same issue a year ago on a 1070 we did. Just took a hand grinder and rounded it down to match the curve of the drum. Not sure why the new ones are so thick.
