DC rod question

Im working on a dc for a guy. It had water in the oil due to a bad o ring. When I went to put the rods back I. I noticed
they were in the wrong way according to the book. The pinch bolt was on the cam side. I was wondering if there
was a reason for this or somebody didnt pay attention years ago? It has ran that way for decades but if it would be
better to turn them I will. Thanks.

With that low of horsepower I doubt it will make a difference which way they are installed. I think it was done the way the book indicates for motor rotation and the power stroke force wouldnt be pushing against the bolt side. But it shouldnt make a difference unless you are going to pull the snot out of it or work it hard. My opinion
