David Brown 880 selectamatic

Picked up a David Brown 880 selectamatic that needs a few things. The fuel stop leaks & I assume that cork is no longer available? I can make a replacement or is a new valve a better option? Was told this tractor was 6 volt - appears to have a 12 volt battery in it & looks like all the replacement starters are 12 volt? Solenoid is bad on this 1 & they wired a push button to jump it. The sheet metal is roughed up in the front & wondering if any 990 or other model front nose parts would swap? Hope to work on it this weekend. Seems like a solid tractor. Thanks

Cork for a fuel stop??? No idea what you are referring to. Do you mean the gaskets on the fuel shut off lever on the injector pump? Then yes, they are readily for available cheap at any diesel shop. If you mean the lift pump? They are readily available too.

880 hoods are unique. I need one too. A 990 hood can probably be modified, that is my plan anyway(shortened, new exhaust hole cut?.

All DB diesels were 12V that I am aware of.

Not sure how the a bad solenoid was bypassed with a push button??? The Starter switch can be bypassed with a push button. But a solenoid is still needed to throw the bendix unless you move it manually every time you want to start the tractor.

the fuel shutoff valve under the tank leaks. Its a round knob you pull out and turn a quarter turn to lock on. The hood is good and the side panels however the top front nose piece (piece above the head lights) hit a tree. I will get a picture this evening. Thought i saw on a UK website that sold that piece new fits 770, 880, 885 etc. The more popular 990 looks similar.

RG, thought that an 885 or a 780 would work over cutting a 990 hood down. Lot of work. some of the 780,880,885 hoods had a cutout for the injection pump. Just
thinking out loud here.

An 885 and 780 hood are narrower. The fuel tank width is the issue. Already been there and tried that, I have spares of both.
