400 hydraulics

1956 Case 403, I've used this tractor for several years with my mower conditioner. Last time out the hydraulics quit working. Plenty
of fluid. The eagle hitch goes up and down as it should, but the remotes won't work. The hoses surge a bit and it feels like its
maybe trying to work but no go. I've swapped out the hoses and the ends to eliminate that as a source of the problem. It appears its
in the pump controls, check balls, or whatever is behind the plate and inside the body. I have a cut away view of all the parts and
pieces of the control unit. But not sure how or where to start. If you can help I'd sure appreciate it. thanks gobble

Slip the pump off and look to see if the needle bearings on the pump gear shafts fell out. That makes for instant loss of all pressure.

Thank you DCase, but the pump has to be still working as the eagle hitch which as you know is run by an outboard cylinder is still operational. Thank you for your assistance gobble

T T, does the eagle hitch make the relief valve chatter if it is held in raise after it has reached the top, if so the pump is probably ok, the hitch would take very little pressure to raise unloaded, maybe you could hook it to a implement that weighed a few hundred lbs. The big balls in the fittings simply hold the load once it is up and are unseated by a pin that is moved by the end of the spool pushing it. Please do not write off the possibility of a pump failure as the other poster suggested, needle bearing failure is not unheard of in those pumps and is a cause for concern.
