It's time to change the oil in my transmission. What type of oil and how much does it take? I have been told the trans, the torque tube(hyd) and the rear end ALL share the same oil. The book says 90 wt oil in the trans and SAE oil for the hyd. Can some one help?

They do not take the same oil. Some of this confusion comes from pre eagle hitch tractors. Gear oil in the back. Non detergent or hydraulic oil in the front.

VAC has oil flooded axles, capacity is 28 qts, pending how well you drain the axles by jacking up each side in turn to fully drain. Full mark is the notch on the dipstick.

VAC production ceased in 1955, serial nrs designation changed sometime in 1953 to starting with 60 from that time to end of production.

Go to the link to determine tractor model year if sn starts with a 60.

I think any kind of tractor hydraulic fluid would work. It is all better than the 20wt non detergent oil that was recommended when it was built. Just don't use any motor oil with detergent, which is almost all modern motor oil
