Case 1030 Hydraulic Oil

Is it a problem to overfill the rear end/transmission with hydraulic oil on the 1030 case. Seems like I've seen some recommendation on here that overfilling them by a few gallons is not a problem and is sometimes recommended.

We always had customers fill them five gallons over the top setting mark on the dipstick,, 22-25 gallons total the later if you have a loader on them, this all but eliminates any bearing problems caused from the being ran low on oil

The 1030, as well as all similar tranny's, require a high quality Transmission-Hydraulic Oil such as CASE-IH Hy-Tran. Straight Hydraulic Fluid is nothing but panther-pi$$ with an anti-foaming agent. Transmission-Hydraulic Oil has the "EP" Extreme Pressure Rating needed for gears, bushings and bearings. Always better to over fill than running low.

Thanks for your replies. I will overfill it by 5 gallons. 17 gallons brought it right to the full line.

I use CaseIH hytran in my 30 series Case tractors, and always try to be 5 gallons over full. It does seem to get away while using remote hydraulic cylinders. A slight leak on a cylinder or a hose fitting, and even just coupling and uncoupling the hose to the tractor will loose a bit of oil each time.
