Case VA thoughts

I was offered this VA for free, I went to look at it today and took some pictures. The person says he has 2 more, one of which was apparently reversed and used as a sweep for putting up loose hay. I haven't seen the other 2 but he says the reversed one was free a couple years ago and that he covered the exhaust. I think I will take them and try to get at least one running. I will post an update when I get them in the spring after the snow melts. Can anyone tell the year or tire size off these pictures?

I can not make out the serial # I have a reversed one and would like another can you send and or post me pics of it if you might be interested in a trade,, or even the chassis with the bad engine removed if you were not wanting a reversed one anyway

I don't have pics of the reversed one, I will post some when I get them. It is on his families old farm and he is going to get me some pics when he goes up there again.

You mentioned reversed. I have lost something in the translation there!. Best of luck. Take your time and an orderly teardown of your collection.CM

Chuck, a number of dealers bought VA/200/300/400/430/530 and reversed them like a forklift, mounted a hay head sweep, for sweeping up hay loose to a stacker,, others had a loader mounted rather than a hay head

You turn over the pinion gear shaft so she pinion gear is on the opposite side of the transmission output shaft. This makes every transmission gear drive the tractor opposite than the original direction.

In my Farmall M ad I said that I would be interested in trading for Case tractors and someone called to say that they had several VACs that haven't run in years that they wanted to go to a good home.

Chuck,
Remember my DCS? That had a reverser transmission that had 3 speeds in reverse and 1 forward, but still had the original top cover, so you didn't know what gear you were in. I'm told it was used as a sugar cane loader. Came with no seat, steering wheel or brake linkage, cobbed up as all get out, must have torched a ton of scrap metal off of it. Don

It may be a 1945 if the first part of the tag is VA or VAC and the first digits are 49. There's a place near me that has 2 VACs, one is a 46 the other is a 1952 with Eagle hitch that needs some major work. Best of luck rescuing those and bringing them back to life.

I think you need the reversed one to mount a 6 foot lawn mower in front of. The only thing that would work better would be a 400 Versatile windrower lowered with a 6 foot mower on it with 2, 5 foot wings on it.

47 VAO
Get 'em & fix'em if you can, especially if the tin is there.
Very handy and gutsy little tractor.

I have a super low hour'ed pre EH VA I have been hoping to find a belly mower for,, the reversed VA I have is a 52 or 53,, I am hoping to make it into a small forklift someday,, but thats not a bad idea either for sure they would make quite the mower wouldn't they
