400 vs. DC Governor Spring

I heard a tale on the internet that using a governor spring from a DC on a 411 will "wake the 400 up" I am curious to find out from others if this is a true thing or not. If yes, what if anything else needs to be done to make this change, other than just changing to a new spring? Linkage changes etc. Thank you for your help
 
The governor spring on a DC is on the opposite side of the engine and hooks to the arm near the actuating shaft, it is much heavier than a 400 which hooks on the opposite side near the carb rod. If you mean wake it up, as increase RPM it would do that but would make the governor unusable as the spring would not stretch much to increase the rpm, Maybe for pulling where there is no rpm limit but for general use it's not the answer.

mEL, Is there any reason to make the spring switch? You're saying the engine will free rev? Or can you make adjustments in the rods to keep idle and max rpms down to not blowing up speed?
 
I question what the "wake it up" term means to you? What are you looking for, more power? more speed? I have 2 411'a and 1 403. I
have plowed with each. The 400's governors are a bit different from the DC. IMO. MY DC is very responsive to load changes, the
400's you don't hear it like the DC but in my plowing they always seemed to grunt down and pull thru. Now just maybe you have a
problem with your governor, I opened one 411's governor up to find years worth of old hard grease impeding the governor.
Maybe you could wake yours up by checking inside the governor body. gobble
