Where To Find A 930 Motor?

Anyone have good leads on a wrecking yard that might have a Case 930 comfort king motor? I feel like there MUST be a few out there, but I'm struggling to figure out how to find one?

Thanks guys.

What's wrong with yours? You seem to have the skills to rebuild, so why not go that route? You will have $2500 plus shipping in a used engine and not know what you have. For not much more you can have a rebuilt motor and know it's good.

That said, there are a couple good places near me that would likely have one, but shipping to you would be expensive. I am coming to Wyoming in March I think and could get one that far if that helps. If your interested I can get you the contact info for the salvage yards.

Keep in mind there are 2 different 930 Comfort King engines. Six speed and 8 speed engines do NOT interchange.

Well. I'm not really sure. I need to drop the oil pan and look, what I know for sure is that something blew in the lower end and there are chunks in the pan. Then they let it sit for a couple years without exhaust covered. Now its stuck...

At this point I'd like to just make it run and either sell it or use it. I got lied to a lot about the tractor, and now I'm afraid of what else is wrong with it.

It is an ad on nextech classifieds. Just the motor. I asked him for a phone number. I’ll pass it on once I get it.

One other option is a 70 series or newer engine. They mostly bolt in with a few changes and start better when it's cold. Any 6 cylinder case engine other than a 930 6 spd will bolt up to both housings. The later engines will need a little fab work but it's not hard. You will have to cut a hole for the steering shaft and relocate the throttle to the other side. Depending on which motor you get you may need to grind the front housing some to clear the front pulley. But I still say you will be better off to rebuild what you have.

Interesting, good to know!

I think you are right as well. At a minimum I need to drop the oil pan and see what exactly happened.

Most folks say an overhaul is not worth it because you won't get your money back. If you are going to sell soon then I agree. But if you intend to use it the comparison should be to what can you buy for the cost that is certain to be better. And that is nothing since you never know what you will get. Brand doesn't matter, old tractors, like cars and trucks, are a crap shoot. On the other hand a 930 with a new engine will likely last a lifetime for most folks using them like they are today. So even if the overhaul costs $5,000 at a dealer what can you buy for that that will be guaranteed to be better? At best if your lucky another 930, if not you will have some other problem. If you can do the work yourself it will be hard to get more than $3,000 in it. Of course I haven't priced parts in a few years so things may have gone up some.
