I am currently in the process of refurbishing my 1170 shown in the pictures. Once I get the clutch fixed, all the power train, hydraulics, cooling system, etc. will be in very good condition. Tires are needed. The cab interior needs fixing including the left door needs minor mechanical repairs. Brakes need minor repairs.

This spring or summer, I intend to send this 1170 to a professional restorer to fix the cab's interior and left door and do it right. Two possibilities are about an hour away from me. I know this will cost more than the tractor is worth but that is okay because----

I have had this tractor for 40+ years and I am getting old. (82 and some what sentimental about this 1170.)

First priority is to keep this tractor off an estate auction. It's future owner needs to have demonstrated keeping old tractors in barns, not over extending them, and having no serious need for an air conditioner. It came from the factory without air conditioning. Its original paint is good.

I will search for and work with any future owned who will take good care of this 1170.

We are roughly in the same area .... you had my attention until the "no factory air"! I like my old 1175 too. My 2090 even more. Glad to see you giving her some love!

Just south of Moline .... not sure about Ron, I suspect he is further south than I. Recently revived a dead 970 and took the cab off (it had no air), and been enjoying using that more than the cabbed tractors lately. I do need to invest in a better muffler, though, and a curved outlet pipe. That cling clang rain cap I put on had to go.

I am about in the middle of some of you. I am right where 70 and 57 cross, Effingham Il. I am looking for an 1175 for a friend that
wants to use it on his farm. He wants a nice tractor that is dependable that looks nice. We have three 1170 s, two are pulling tractors and the other one is a farm cab tractor
that runs good and is straight. We are thinking about restoring it but like to use it.

Yep, went past Rend Lake on vacation a couple years ago. Nice area. Just noticed the weights on the front of Ron's tractor in the first picture. Seems to be quite a setup. That's the thing with those 70 series....drop a plow in to a red clay hillside and the front end goes straight in the air with out a ton of iron on the front. Hard on front end pivot parts and spindles.

451 Cubes, I understand the "no air conditioning thing". I am not trying to sell you my 1170 but just commenting about my experiences driving tractors in comfort with no AC.

I was hard up for money in 1978 when I bought the 1170. I am sure it was priced "affordable" to me mainly because of no air conditioning.

I had somehow discovered that a key to being comfortable out in the open on a hot sunny day was to "sit in the shade". The picture of me baling hay with one of my DCs, it was 105 degrees and I was sitting comfortable in the shade. LOL

Fortunately the 70 series cab could be opened wide on three sides and the frames around the glass are durable enough to keep the glass from breaking for 40 years so far. The only minor problem that developed because of running with the door open for 20 years more or less was a small crack developed in the door frame just below the large glass. It was easy to weld the crack with the glass in place.

After the crack, I decided to make it a practice to remove the door in the summer. I only had to remove one bolt from the stop and lift up on the door using a strap. My other tractor with a loader made it quite easy to do.

See the 1170 baling hay. The rear window is propped completely horizontal and I am sitting in the shade with three sides open. LOL

From the other picture, The rear window prop was made from suitable length of small angle iron and bolted to one side only. The window frame is rugged enough that no problems have shown up so far.

Thanks for posting the picture. Working pictures are great. Is your sheet metal actually white? Most all the still pictures of my 1170 were extracted from videos. My video camera made the yellow tint (desert sunset if I remember correctly )come out looking white.

I see your rear tires are probably the standard 18.4 x 38. My 1170 came with 20.8 x 38. One reason I mention this is years ago I came across parts (pair) of the dual wheel mount that Case offered so I latched onto them but I never used them. One reason was the 20.8 tires. They seemed adequate and the 20.8 tire for duals seemed scarce.

Because they were never a part of my 1170, I prefer to sell the pair separately to a 1170 or 1175 owner and they not get auctioned off as junk on any estate sale of mine.

Someone had painted over the original desert sunset with white, where the white has flaked off it still has the original paint underneath. And yes the rears are 18.4-38 fronts are 10.00-16.
