Splitting stand

Case guys-where does a store-bought splitting stand attach to a 6 cylinder Case engine? There is only a single 3/4 threaded hole in the clutch end of the block. All we are doing is putting a different rear end on so will not be working on the engine. I don't want to use a floor jack on a tin oil pan--Thanks

Many different possibilities there. I would be just hanging the rear of the engine on the overhead hoist and sliding the splitting stand on rollers under the rear to separate it, Rod.

Went to the dealer my brother works at to see what to use on a 1270, heavy angle iron pieces drilled and had spacers to use the pan bolts. Think it was three holes per side leaving the second and fourth pan bolts in pan. But never got to do the job. to see how it worked out.

I thought about the oil pan route but went with the grade 8 bolt in the 3/4 hole-will still use my floor jack lightly as a safe helper-Thanks

Don't have a overhead hoist and am going to use the forklift under the rear-end to back it apart. I thought maybe I was missing something oblivious--Thanks

That's ok with the forklift as long as you do not get cylinder leak. Will you be able to maintain level and the ability to slide it, motor and differential back together? CM

Yours looks just about like the one I made except I have a cross member that the oil pan sits on - I realize you cannot do that with the pan you have so I'm not much help. Aren't a whole lot of options there for holes are there?

I made a frame that the oil pan bolt heads simply sit on. It has a place for a hydraulic jack to raise and lower while going back together. Has worked well for the last 40+ years.

I will wait until my Son gets back from the tractor pull in Oklahoma-looks like a two man operation--Thanks Chuck

I built a rig that bolted up to my 411 Racine at the clutch housing so that I could unbolt the front bolster and repair my steering unit. If I find it in the ARCHIVES, I will repost it for you. I realize that you want to support the engine. If you ring me I would be glad to share a few thoughts. Chuck Machinist My email is open
