Case 400 Injection Pump

Remove the top four bolt cover, and slide the fuel stop plate forward. May not help if it's already forward though. That pump only has a 7.5 MM hydraulic head plunger so it won't have much fuel delivery capacity anyway.

Is it pulling hard? If she is, maybe she's getting enough fuel. When those CASE diesels were "Right", they didn't smoke. Smoke is unburnt or improperly burnt fuel. When everything is "Right", ie: no air restriction, valve adjustment, timing, fuel delivery, nozzle adjustment, they shouldn't be smoking. Maybe a slight haze. Hope this helps.

OK thanks John and Dieseltech. My engine seems a bit underpowered compared to two other 400's that I pulled against and they did smoke a little when they got right down to it. Maybe it's time to get the pump and injectors checked.

Thanks again and Happy New Year.

I believe I had that stile work on once and was advised that wear in the pump an affect the timing so that the timing marks are no longer accurate. Is this true ?
