needing part for VAC

I have 2 1946 VAC parts tractors so I may have one laying around. E-Mail is open

Well, I just assumed it had one, which It didnt when I got it. I can see where a spin on filter could be right also. But, I dont know.

no cover on the VA series tractor oil filter like this VAI.

Go to the link there are dozens of early 1950's VAC pics, no cover on any oil filter.

Do you know if an oil filter was an option on these tractors? We have a 49 VAC that doesn't have an oil filter, just a block off plate where it would mount to the block.

Oil filter was a option, at least early on,, if you do install a plate you have to make the gasket so it allows oil to flow from one port across the plate to the other

Tom, you are thinking of the in-line filter systems, VA has a by-pass filter system from the oil galley through filter and back to the sump.

If you decide you have a spin on, there should be a tube sticking up from a hole in the filter base. It goes missing quite often as newbies (like me) unscrew the filter and don't see that tube stuck in the bottom. You can fabricated one easy enough out of copper tubing. If you put on a spin on without it, you won't have much oil pressure.
