Last winter I was blading snow and pump starting grinding/pinging noises, lost 3 point as well. Tool pump off and after taking apart it seemed a little sloppy. Replaced pump/flushed hydraulics in spring and while baling hay the pump started to make the same noise and baler gate hydraulics were extremely choppy and then failed all together. Took the pump off and it still seems tight. Now Iím questioning if thereís something else causing the hydraulics to fail and making that noise. It sure sounds like itís coming from the pump and what else would make the hydraulics choppy? I change filters after the flush and use mastertran ultraction. Any help would be appreciated.

Pull the PTO housing off the back of tranny and clean the plastic suction screen on the housing. Likely covered with debris from contamination.-----------------Loren

Today's Featured Article - Upgrading an Oliver Super 55 Electrical System - by Dennis Hawkins. My old Oliver Super 55 has been just sitting and rusting for several years now. I really hate to see a good tractor being treated that way, but not being able to start it without a 30 minute point filing ritual every time contributed to its demise. If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr ... [Read Article]
