Bought another tractor

I was browsing Craigslist this evening and found a 49 SC for sale, so I decided to call about it and now it looks like I'm going to pick it up tomorrow evening after work.

It doesn't look bad and it has everything I'm looking for on one, still on 6 volt, hand clutch and belt pulley. I just sold an Allis B on Friday evening for $900 and bought this SC for the same price, so that's a huge upgrade! Especially now I have another good tractor

Neat looking unit. As an aside, if any of you guys are looking for an SC like that, I've neighbor that has his father in laws 48 in a lean to on the granary. His wife's home farm and the tractor never left. Bought new in Carlos Mn from Behang Implement. Very nice, good original paint, good rubber, if I recall it had a distribute added at some point. Their family has no interest and he's asked me a number of times what I thought it was worth and I told him 800 to a 1000 because of how nice it was, it runs out like top. I know he's going to Craig's List it and local shoppers listing too, the Sauk Centre Peach is good one as the adds are free and lots of readership. I just thought maybe one of you guys might be interested. I have nothing to do with it and will gladly give you his phone or email if interested. Larry

Hope you can find the needed parts, if it's a Case mag. Parts for them are as scarce as hens teeth in our part of the world. We've had to convert several Case tractors to Delco distributors. I like the right angled ones, points are easy to get because old Chevy 6 cylinders, IH & AC all used the same points, so there probably at least a half million still out there.

Nice find! Are the DC and the SC harder to steer than say a 400? As a kid, I remember trying to back hay wagons into a barn with I believe an SC belonging to a neighbor and I've never forgot it. I did it, but wished I was handling the hay bales. Only tractor I had drove to that point was a narrow front VAC.

I think the SC is easier to steer than the VAC. Well, my SC was easier until I added a big weight on the front. Never driven a 400. My 300 is easier to steer than either one.
