Case DC4 PTO clutch removal and repair

Does any body have experience with pulling the pot clutch assembly out of the tractor? I like a fool let it slip too much years ago, have taken out all adjustment so not the engagement lever goes over center when engaged and flops down to the back. Looks like there are not parts available but if I can take it out, I can maybe figure out how to shim it up so that will work again.
Thanks for any Help!!

Steve, If that is the new PTO system it has a multiple disc clutch, no repair for bad plates, chances are they are warped as well as the steel plates, to remove, work through the top hole and remove the bolts that fasten the engagement yoke to its shaft, once loose the engagement shaft has to be taken out and the yoke removed, you will probably have some interference with the hydraulic lift cylinder if so equipped, you may have to take the top pin out so the cylinder can be moved. Once the yoke is out the 4 bolts in the bearing carrier are removed the unit will slide right out then. Finding parts should not be an issue.

We stock all the plates, and whatever else. However, by your description, I think you have more going on in there besides the plates. Sounds like a snap ring came off, or a bearing went bad on the front end of the clutch pack. Remove and inspect as Mel described.

Maybe these pictures will provide some clues.

Have you adjusted the PTO clutch using this adjusting pin? Do you need instructions from the service manual?

The shaft and the yoke have to be keyed together and the key and slots need to be in good condition---no rotational slack.

WOW, thanks for all the replies......I've had this issue with this tractor for a long time and assumed parts were not available. I've never seen them listed anywhere or even talked about. Truth is that it's been so long since I was in there that I can't remember what I adjusted to take up the play in the engagement lever so I'm going to have to open it up again and take the clutch out. I'm pretty sure it's not a loose key or a bad bearing. I let this slip while using a brush hog in heavy material way too much, didn't realize that there not supposed to slip. Just one question....whats a ballpark price to replace all the disks and plates?
Thanks again for all the help and I'll keep you posted with what we find.

John, I've seen your name in a couple of posts regarding parts availability and am wondering....what's your source? Do you rep for a company? Web site? I've never seen PTO parts listed anywhere.
Thanks
Steven
