430 diesel tach

Just bought a 65 430 diesel. My first tractor. Seems to run great. Doesn't smoke ever. Has a few minor issues, but nothing huge I don't think. The biggest on to me, is the tach. It isn't working, and the guy I bought it from said it hasn't been. He owned it for about 12 years, but really didn't know much about it, but was very honest about that with me. It seems to have an alternator swap done. The dark green wire is tapped back, and from my searching, it definitely seems to be a 1 wire alternator, instead of the generator. Is there a way to get the original tach to work as is? I don't necessarily hate going back to a generator....I don't think. But I would certainly like to keep the original gauges if at all possible. Thanks

Is this pretty much the option, or is there
something else. Certainly not opposed to this
by any means, was just hoping to not have to
drop that kind of money right yet
