Case 2290 Powershift issue? Engine Stalls

our 2290 was baleing and I stepped on the clutch to powershift down from 2nd gear powershift to first, and then the engine stalled out. The tractor is in neutral now, but
when we go to start the engine it just stalls right away after a few seconds.

one of the spools in the control valve is likely stuck, search the archives for more info on how to free them up or if you have a service manual look through the section on the powershift valve.

My Dad had a 2290 several years ago that did the same thing. It was the C1 spool in the valve body that was sticking. We would clean it and it would run good for a wile and it would stick again. He was trying to get through hay season before working on it but he did not make it. It took out the torque limiter and several other parts the last time it stuck. After rebuilding the torque limiter and some of the clutches in the transmission $$$$ we took off the valve body and cleaned it inside and out. We determined that the root cause was dirty oil. After the repairs he ran the tractor for several more years with on problems. It is a must to keep the oil clean in the power shift trans mission.

Angel, try starting it and quickly shifting into second PS position, If it does not stall there then I suspect C-3 pilot spool stuck. As the other poster said, the reason this happens is lack of maintenance in trans oil and filter changes.
