Best way to clean this?

Pulled pistons out of a 730 diesel and found rust on the rods which I have already cleaned. Problem is inside he block which looks like the rods. Any suggestions on best way to clean. I plan on wire brushing all affected surfaces, blowing the area out, and then doing a diesel fuel wash with a blow gun. I have done this before but it was a bare engine block and this one is on the tractor with the crankshaft and cam sill in place.

I have done the same diesel wash with the cam still in it. Just be sure to clean extra good around the cam, not the best way to do it, but I have done the same and haven't had any problems.

So, what is the rest of the story???? O'ring leaking coolant into the pan, exhaust left open letting moisture into bottom end. I've seen rust like that, actually worse, but that engine had a lot of water in the oil.and was stuck. Is the red sealant on the inside of the block flaking off? I believe if your taking the sleeves out you'll be able to get different sizes of wire brushes in there and get it scoured out. The diesel flush will get it but it will take an enormous amountof diesel. Make sure to force diesel thru all the lube holes in the crank and gallies to them. I wish you the best. be diligent, take your time, do not get rushed. gobble

This is one of those tractors that you learn as you go. Grandson was cleaning deceased grandpa's property up and was going to send this 730 along with a DC and a IH M to the scrap yard. Had to buy all three but got them at scrap price. All three locked up so I drained oil and put diesel fuel in exhaust and let the other two set. The 730, I started going over, as it was the one I was really after in the deal, Drained 6 gallons of water out of rear and two quarts from engine. Put acetone/trans fluid mix down exhaust and have let it set over a year trying to free it by pry bar on fly wheel every so often. Finally freed, and now I'm going through the motor to see where I'm at. Cylinder walls will be ok and bearings are good although 30 over. Will need rings but I feel lucky with that.
Grandpa had taken fuel tank and fuel filter cups (never did find cups) off tractor so I assume there was a fuel problem. Rail is locked up in pump but have been soaking with carb cleaner for two months and it's starting to move. Every time I squirt new cleaner in, colored comes out.
It will be a while before I take my first ride on this one, rear tire went flat, luckily no fluid, radiator needs taken off for a wash, but what the heck, I'm having fun!
