What model? Update.

I called the auction house and actually talked to someone who had a clue about tractors. He said this is a 630 COM diesel, not running but has been in a shed for about 10 years. I am planning on going to this auction and possibly buy it if it doesn't look too bad. What's everyone's opinion on what a fair price would be in non running condition?

630's are somewhat scarce. Only built between 1960 - 63. First at the Rock Island plant (serial numbers start with “6”), and then later at Racine after Rock Island was closed (serial numbers start with “8”) .

The 630’s were an “in between” tractor. With 54 hp, they had 9 more ponies than a 530, but also weighed about 700 lb. more. Kind of a “super” 530. They were also significantly lighter than a 730 and not in the same class as to pulling power. Apparently, Case decided the 630 didn’t really fill a necessary slot in their tractor lineup when they discontinued them in 1963. The rest of the 30 series line continued in production until 1969.

If the serial number tag is still on it, as a diesel row crop Caseomatic it should read 631C for the model number. Tractordata lists a total of 1,181 630’s built. Don’t know how many were diesel row crops with COM transmissions.

The value depends on condition and particularly if the engine is stuck. At the very least, if the engine is not stuck, after sitting for 10 years, you need to pull the injection pump and have it rebuilt. Do not attempt to start the tractor unless the pump is free, otherwise you will be spending even more money to repair the damage.

If the tires are good, and the rest of the tractor appears solid, the general rule of thumb is 2X scrap price for a non-running complete tractor. In my book, I wouldn’t pay more than $1,000 for it even if it was burning a hole in my heart to have it. Jim

Paid $500 for my 630 gas. It was locked up, lots of quick fixes and alterations. Parts were hard to find but diesel motor parts seemed to be everywhere. Original tires were rotten and on loaded 36" rims which came out to be my biggest cost.

In case you should need some, I have some used diesel head valves that a clown from asap sent me for gas valves, two different numbers which I had explained to him but he sent anyway.

its kinda rough looking and dont have original rear rubber.it needs a lot of tidying up and who knows what else to get it running. probably 1000.00 tops but i would not pay that much unless i really really wanted it.

It does look pretty rough from the pic. I'll look it over good Saturday at the sale. It's not one I have to have but if it's not stuck I'm thinking somewhere between $500-700 at most is what I'd give.

An older friend of mine has this 630 western he would like to get rid of. Been overhauled. Has the hood also. Located in Central Iowa.
