I have a Case 380CK, which is very similar to the 885. I have the complete wiring diagrams for the Case if you need them. If the instrument cluster was removed, there is good chance that a wire might have been accidentally relocated to a wrong terminal. Also, the original ignition switch gets a lot of dust/dirt/oils in it over a long period of time, and this could result in current leaking from one terminal to the next inside the ignition switch (or any of the switches.) Best way to troubleshoot is using an Ammeter inserted in the battery lead (but not while cranking, since that would destroy the Ammeter). Ammeters are always inserted in line (in series) with the wiring, never across (parallel) anything. In general, if you have a large current draw (more than 1 amp), then alternator, voltage regulator, starter solenoid, lights might be the cause. If current draw is less than 1 amp, then small indicator lamps, leaky switches (caused by dust, dirt, oil), voltage stabilizer, gauges, etc, could be the cause. Make sure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position, not the ACC (accessory) position. With the switch off, start disconnecting wires from the ignition switch until the current goes to zero. Whichever wire is causing the current drain, trace the wiring from that circuit. Let me know if you need a schematic.
