Used the 1170 to pull a White 8650 combine. Also used the 4690 for a few rounds....

Been dry as heck here. Don't think the oats ever got over .45 at one time and less than 3" total....75-80 bushel to the acre. Have to round up the tickets.

Steve, I bet the White really hummed with the 4690 turning her! Great pictures.

I guess there aren't any advantages to a pull type combine. Just us old guys that tinker with this stuff. FB page Pull Type Combines has guys of all ages with pull type machines showing their stuff. This machine is 40 years old but sat for about 30. Low hour use and in good shape...was shedded until the roof blew off a couple years ago and they wanted the combine gone. Keeps a guy from getting old.

Put the big tractor on as a promo shot. The pto stops too abruptly and is hard on the driveline...no way to feather it.Plus it is too cumbersome to make a corner easily. Neither tractor knew the combine was back there for power. 1170 is just the right size for the combine.

Yea Steve I wondered, I know here the 1070 was about the right power for the IHC 914, but there again pto what come on and shut down so quickly. 930s 1030s could feather that.
