Hello,
My name is Tom and I am new to this forum. I am trying to do a fairly decent resto. on my 1951 Case SC tractor. I have a
question I'd like to verify because the pictures in the copies of the owners and service manuals I bought aren't that clear. I
want to change the transmission fluid. Lord knows the last time it was changed!! Anyways, Question #1...In the one picture that
has the two drain plugs-- It's the larger one that is the fill hole for the tranny? Question #2 In the picture with the blue
tape and arrow- that little plug is the "fill level" for the trans fluid? (once fluid starts to come out that, that indicates the
proper amount of fluid(similar to changing the oil). Question #3 The picture with that large plug at the bottom of the tractor-
that is the drain plug for the transmission? The one manual indicated two plugs, but I believe that was for a different model
tractor. Any tips on draining it? I know its gear oil but should I expect it to come shooting out of there due to the volume of
fluid? The manual says it take about 9 gallons of 90 weight oil- if I can't find 90 weight, any reccommendations for a good
substitute?? Thank you for any advice. Tom
