Early 530 power steering

Some of you have read my posts about my 530 utility power steering and I have rebuilt the operating mechanism for my power steering as well as installed new control valve seals. That all appears to function well. I installed new hoses and filled up the remote canister, I ran it and cycled the steering a dozen or so times, turned it off, refilled and repeat several times. It definitely seems to steer better but my question for you 530 guys that have a loader on an ag/utility model is how good does your power steering function? Mine stills requires effort so I am thinking my pump may have issues. It definitely showed signs of self bleeding with ankle the air bubbles in the canister but she ain’t steering with 2 fingers by any stretch. Just curious what I should expect. Thanks in advance.

That system is Power assist and not meant to be steered sitting still or without some steering effort, however you should be able to hear the system relief squeal when turning the wheel sitting still, if not you may have a weak pump due to it being ran low of fluid at some point in time

(quoted from post at 15:15:52 07/29/20) Thank you for the information.

That why I told you to lift the front for testing. The assist in good condition is an arm saver when tractor is traveling especially with the loader bucket full.

On the first test you may need to disconnect the drag link and stroke the actuator manually.

I just have to say thank you to everyone here that gave me guidance. When I tested my steering yesterday with the wheels in the air I was sure that I had a pump problem. I topped off the canister today after work and figured I would take it up for a bath and I’ll be fanged if that steering didn’t work like a charm! Thanks to all of you!
