Case 2090 leaking between remote valves

Hi,

I have a Case 2090 that is leaking between the remote valves when the forward most remote lever is moved with no implement hooked up.

This tractor has two remotes.

Tried changing o-rings, but problem seems to be the one remote valve.

With the tractor at idle, you can move the lever for the back remote up or down and there are no leaks.

If you move the lever for the front remote, it is ok moving the remote lever up, but if you pull it back, fluid gushes out from between the two remote valves on the block.

If you hook up a hydraulic hose to make a loop at the rear of the tractor for the front remote valve, there are no leaks.

Tried replacing o-rings between the valves on the stack.

Took out the offending remote valve and now only have one valve in the ‘stack’. No leaks when moving the remote lever up or down with nothing hooked up to the tractor.

What is wrong with my bad valve that allows the pressure to dead head and push past the o-rings when two remotes are sandwiched together?

Does it have a relief valve that isn’t allowing the oil to move through?

Thanks

The stack valves work at system pressure which is over 2000 lbs, when I have that problem with a valve section I always magnaflux it for cracks in the o ring seating area. If you resealed it once and still have a leak that is where I would start.

Hyd leaks can be very tricky and can take a lot of patience to find. The remote valve has o-rings on upper and lower main spool, detent housing, secondary shuttle valve, flow control valve and outlet fittings. Just guessing, secondary shuttle valve o-ring is bad mimicking leak between stacks.Did you notice the 3 shims between stacks at bolts?

No - I did not recall three shims. Is there only supposed to be a shim on one of the bolts that hold the stack together? Or all three bolts?

I don’t see any cracks. Mind you - that’s with my eye.

Should note that a hydraulic hose had blown up on a hay rake
the the tractor was pulling at the same time that this leak
happened.

Are you indicating that the tractor was laboring when this happened as if it had a problem, raking should not load a 2090 down any.

1 shim on each bolt and between each valve and end cap, very easy to overlook upon disassembly.

No.

Tractor was not laboring.

Just blew a hydraulic hose on the rake and developed the
remote leak at the same time.

Tried everything.

Turns out you were right - the remote had a 2” long hairline
crack in it that could only be seen in the right light.

Crack was on the machined flat surface of the remote valve.

Thanks for the help!
