My 1030 came with 38 inch tires, and I like it, cause it will go twice the speed of stink down the road with those tires. I put brand new 34 inch on my 930 a few years ago now , and you can really tell the difference between the two

I'm with you, don't like the look of 38s on the 30 series. That is different with the 70 series and later.

Bill,

Almost impossible to find used 18.4-34's and new ones are expensive. The tire guys say it is just not a popular size anymore, similar to the 14.9 -38's that came on 400's. 38 inch tires certainly pull better, but it costs to convert over as well. 38's make the hitch higher and road gear faster, too. IMHO Case tended to undersize rear tires. Don

Last year and a half I have had to buy 3 18.4 x 34 tires. Firestone Super All Traction tires were $550 plus tax. I mount my own.

38's have better flotation and traction than 34's if the width is the same. Most salvage yards think the 38" cast wheels are gold though, and step rims are not cheap either. There are extended length rim clamps if you can find them to fit 38's on 34" wheels. All of my tractors larger than the 870 have been changed to 38's. I would hate to go back.

18.4 x 34 would be my preference. 38" would work as well,, but 34's look correct to me. Bob
