I went and looked at a Case 430 L , Diesel tractor yesterday. Serial number began with 64—- so my guess is it is from early 1960’s, and has eagle hitch. The tractor is complete, but tin work has been butchered to install a non appropriate muffler, and someone cut a chunk out of the sheet metal to access the battery. Also some nasty red paint sprayed on nose section, but it is all there.
Now for my question. The serial tag says 430 L and this tractor has a front axle and spindle/hubs , the likes of what I have seen on a 530 loader tractor. The front axle that was on the 430Gas I had 40 years ago had a thinner axle, more like you find on a VA Case. So please give me insight on this L on serial plate and the very heavy axle.
I did take the plunge on this little tractor, other than dump money into it, I am uncertain what else I will do with it. Came with a blade. The seller said it came with the house and he didn’t want it. The previous home owners father had bought it new on the farm, so the story goes, everything comes with a story right. Any how he wanted $1,500.00 . I told him I had $1,200.00 cash in my pocket, and if he wanted to sell for that, we could deal. After some talk with his wife, they took my offer. So now I have to get it home, and see what I am up against
