hood latch late model vac

I painted my VAC (51 with the late grill) last year. THe hood fit fine before painting, but now it does not want to latch. I have sprayed it with lube. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of adjustment. Doesn't seem like you can raise the grill. Anybody have experience with this?

Do you have the rubber pads under the radiator? That raises everything up about 1/4". Also you can shim the latch stud up to get it to latch. That don't help the fit but would allow it to latch. I have several tractors with that style sheet metal and it is hard to get them to fit perfect. Would help considerable if the grill was about 1/2" taller. Most have been sprung at some point from hitting limbs and such which doesn't help either. Lee

Thanks for the tip. I will check on it. I didn't take the radiator out and it fit before so I am guessing the rubbers are still under the radiator but I will see. THanks again.

I looked. Looks like the rubbers are there but I think they are pretty well shot. Maybe some new ones and a washer or two will fix me up.
