Can a Case expert fill me in on this?

I seen this listed on Tractorhouse and I'm confused on this. Could a Case expert explain? I understand the LP tank just could have been replaced or reconditioned in 59, but the tractor serial number has me stumped. Thanks

1953 DC. If you believe the 1000 hours you had better jump all over it. Barely broke in?? Hand, or foot clutch?

It's not likely to believe everything that they say about equipment on there, especially the hours. The serial number had me confused because I don't have an accurate listing by years and doing the math didn't seem right to me. And it's listed for $3200 which is a lot too much in my opinion.

It is probably a converted DC3 gasoline tractor. Case offered LP conversion kits to retrofit older models to LP, although you could get a factory equipped LP gas D series starting in the summer 1951. I was told that in 1953 gasoline down south was 19 cents a gallon and LP gas was 5 cents a gallon. Therefore the demand for LP equipment. Not many LP gas DC's w/AWF. Mine came from Texas. Don

Probably repainted about the time the LP tank was added, or replaced. It's not an original color for a DC. Wondering if it's a factory original or an aftermarket conversion to LP. Need to see the head casting # to be sure. On the serial #, both the '53's & '54's began with 80, so you have to have the break-down by year to know for sure. Prior to those years, subtract 4 from the first 2 didgets (example: 47xxxx-4=43, made in 1943) to get the year made.

My son has a DC awf propane he bought on a auction about 50 miles from home in MN. 52 DC that the son of the owner told us his dad bought the propane kit from JI Case to switch from gasoline. Everything was in the kit including the hood and cylinder head. Factory propane tractors have a angle iron across the front of the tank for the headlites...this one pictured doesn't have lites.

In the conversion kits you could go with the 6128 LP head or continue to use the gasoline head at a slight reduction of horsepower. I have the LP kit installation manual that gives a parts breakdown and step by step guide to installing and tuning the LP equipment.
