This place is getting STRANGE

New folks joining keeps thee whole old tractor thing alive. Who is going to buy and use these old tractors if new folks don’t come along and take an interest? Sure not going to sell any to guys that are commercial farmers, like they were built for originally.

I have lots of young folk on my fb Case all but a very few are very good to work with and help,, I will help anyone at least once,, but as you have seen it may only be Once that goes for young and old

I haven't been here too long, and attempt to help, but I agree that there are some that can't be helped.and it's sad.i came here for the knowledge, and cool pictures .but it frustrates when you read a load of wisdom and experience put forth just to have it argued .not towards me,but some of the trusted names I have gotten used to seeing.Personally,I always enjoy reading what the old school guys have the say.just my opinion

CN, I am kinda in the same boat as you, I have been holding back of late as I see so much incorrect information being given by well meaning people, I grew up in my prime solving power shift problems and before that Case O Matic issues and have rebuilt dozens and studied flow charts and had extensive factory training , and It becomes painfully apparent that some knowledge does not go any deeper than the idea that a new filter will suddenly solve a problem with a system destroyed by 50 years of neglect. If I were so step in and interject my opinions on many things put up here I would have no friends. It is obvious to me that a lot of people on forum have never had any hands on. Just keyboard mechanics.

mEl Spot On as usual Sir,, I do Highly Value your and others here like you for the knowledge you share and give,, so I want to say Thank You in "CASE" I neglected to before

CN, thank you for your kind words, I know you have been "battle tested" as well. Will be looking forward to your input on Issues and will understand if you choose not to comment. Good luck.

mEl,I hope you don't give up on this site. I have never seen you give wrong information. You and a few others a very knowledgeable and it shows.I do very little on the computer but I check the local obits and this site everyday.
I understand the frustration. I cringe when people, there have been several, have called me up and say "My hydraulics on my 970 are weak, I put a new pump on and it did not help." It's too bad he put a thousand dollar pump on when a couple o-rings in the relief valve was the problem.

Here's my penny's worth,; We need young blood, and the only dumb question is the one not asked. I really don't mind helping someone when they appreciate it. My beef is that after we help them, we don't hear back, unless they come back because they have a deeper problem. Once in a while someone comes back and says thanks.
Another beef I have is the totally illiterate postings from help seekers. If anyone would simply go back, re-read their post and make corrections before the final "post your message". Sometimes, they are so bad, I click off them.
How about the guys that won't help themselves by purchasing an Operator's manual? Or, if they are going to start delving into a project, how about purchasing a Service Manual? "My hydraulics don't work, where does the fluid go?" Gee!! Don't you think a $12.00 Operators Manual would have been worth the $$$ now that you did considerable damage to the hydraulic pump you can't replace?
Now I'm getting pi$$ed off, so I gotta stop.

John You got me smiling reading Your post because, I can hear you talking as i Read LOL .. You Too are certainly among the finest for helping us dumb guys keep our farms going with the finest Case tractors are ancestors could build for us . You Know My family has always been a lover of the Case lineup. .. IT IS VERY TRUE ." the only dumb question is the one not asked" .Or WAS AFRAID TO ASK .which is the reason for the post .I fear there is so many good hearted newbies coming on here asking elementary questions . Sooner or later someone in exasperation is going to roar a reply that is going to send a newbie to his man cave shop and pop a top and say ,"SCrew You " LOL. Then they will never come ask again ,, And THAT would be sad. Yes ,I too get frustrated as obvious by one of my posts admonishing a half dozen posters who could not identify a 530 CASE tractor in a picture ! . sheesh , I thought ,.But If YOU DONT Know !, You Dont Know , until You ask someone that DOES know ! I will take it a step further which was the reason for my post . I wanted to apologize for being short on some posts . Patience is a virtue that the Best Teachers seldom loose ,And i appreciate ALL of You.

It's called a "clique", don't notice the severe undie bunching on other yt forums. Noticed same in another local case collector club.

I agree John.
I really appreciate the help you gave me when I ordered from you.
We all need to be more thankful.
Richard in NW SC

mEl,Tom,Loren,John,I would personally like to be able to have the opportunity to set down and talk to you guys, you all have helped me indirectly more than you could ever know, old posts, easy to find via Google, and just reading from other peoples problems.i have learned little bits I could never have found.you guys are,the top line.i know there are others here that are greats too,I just haven't gotten to know who you are,I appreciate all of you guys.thanks. clint

I think you guys are great. Always willing to help newbies. One problem I see and it is a YT problem and not a problem of this forum it is hard to search back for responses to particular problems, so the same problems have to be answered year after year. If there was a good way to search on this site, it would save some duplication. I have learned that if you just google your problem it will actually find it on YT, but i have to go outside YT to do that, which seems a little weird.

I would say it was no loss with that attitude, you have no damn clue the hours I have invested in this site posting for folks,, not like I get a damn dime for all that work and time,, I work 20 plus hours every damn day and yet I have to see posts from ungrateful ones like you seem to be telling me what a @$$ I am,, guess what people like YOU are why I have all but stopped posting here as you act like its your right to have free info posted when ever you need something,, so as per your post above go to a different forum here that does not have a "clitch" or click or what ever you said I could care less,

"Clique"?? Please explain yourself. A "clique" keeps to themselves, not welcoming of others. However there are too many of us on this board that jump right in when a question is asked with valuable info. All anyone asks is please don't argue with sound advice, and how about a "thanks" once in a while. When someone comes back w/ a "thanks", at least we know the advice worked and we weren't blowing wind.

If I started a feud on here I did not intend to, newbies, certainly welcome, new blood always welcome, that was not my point!! The watchers of these posts have no personal knowledge of any of us or our abilities. Looking at some of the responses to hydraulic questions and troubleshooting such just makes me shake my head. I have 50 + years in a professional shop as chief mechanic and received the bulk of my training at Case's factory training center at Racine Wis.I have trained many who have also gone on the excel in their field. We have to be accurate, remember, these posts go around the world.

I have areas that I feel I am qualified to talk about but where I lack I keep my mouth shut and learn, there are others on here more connected to the problems of later equipment than I.

Again If I have offended anyone that was not my intention. My only concern is that when we put stuff up here it needs to be accurate. In now way was I discouraging new blood, just remember, new blood is looking to us for correct info on their problems.

As I previously stated If I would call out every error in diagnostic procedures I would nhave fewer friends than I do now.

CN, keep your head up, we do value you.

Sheeeesh Tom, you must be as old as me. I am 76 and planning on living another 76 years just to be ornery.

No one ever said we do not want new young folks here I answer thousands of questions on my fb page posted by young people every year,, with over 21K on the page I have all ages from across the globe there, I have more traffic on my page in one day than this page has in a month

Yesterday I posted a 300 that I had finished up. I got my nails black, my knuckles skinned on the bull gear replacing the pto seal, bathed in gear and hydraulic oil, etc. But it was mEI, CN, Joe (Wa), Loren, John, and others who guided me with old posts about how to do this or that. To all of you I owe a big thank you.
