Finally got some rain

Been real dry here lately, grass was mostly brown and corn was curling badly. Just down the road in the sand the corn was burning up with brown leaves on the bottom. But we got a real nice inch of rain over night, so that should help.

As of yesterday morning they only gave 20% chance of rain, on Friday they gave 80% chance and we got nothing. At that point I was really worried as the next ten days said no rain. So sure am glad to get this. Cultivated the corn this weekend. Had some weeds coming and didn't want to spray again since it's non-gmo and didn't want to add more atrazine. But the cultivator did a good job on it. Before and after pics

Here is also a short video. Now I'll have to get some nitrogen on the corn then next will be combining the oats which is headed out nicely.

I’m happy for both of us! We got just over an inch too. I almost did a happy dance when that rain started falling about 10:30 last night. I baled some low spots in a hay field yesterday I haven’t cut through since about 2008. I’m very hopeful the nitrogen I put down on Thursday evening kicks my second crop hay into high gear. I need the hay. 30-40% less on my first crop this year, compared to last year.

Jon: That corn is extremely clean. Was it sprayed? Freshly cultivated with 1" rain?? Wow.!! Will that corn ever explode!! Nice!!

Jon, we got 8 tenths last night and another inch and 2 tenths this morning in about an hour. Hope you get the same. Corn looks good here on our heavy ground but like your area, sand ground has spots that are gone already. Not many good looking beans anywhere. Gary.

Same here, 20 percent chance of rain, so I left a couple of tractors out, a mower, a bunch of sacks of feed, (didn't wash the car) and lot of stuff I didn't want rained on. Ever do a dash around in the rain putting stuff up thinking if you do this it will quit raining?

Yes it was sprayed. The weeds are there but not growing, they are just kinda sitting there. I'm hoping the cultivator will keep them down
