David Brown 990 possible cracked block

Bought a late model 990 at an auction a couple weeks ago, knew it had engine problems, had a knock and hydraulic issues. Dropped pan when I got it home and it spun a bearing in #1 cyl. Either gonna have the crank reground or buy a new one. Anyway finished splitting tractor and checked hone on the rest of cylinders and noticed #3 cyl has a possible suspect problem too. Initially I felt my finger nail catch but cleaned it with brake cleaner and now it feels smooth but still discolored. The suspect area is completely horizontal and all the way around the cylinder. Seems odd that a crack would be horizontal all the way around and not vertical. My only other thought is its possible corrosion if it sat for awhile and the cylinder took on moisture/coolant. Curious if anyone has any thought on this or has had it happen

Is the crack about 1/2" down from the head gasket? Most DBs have a steel fire ring insert in the top of the block.

Stick a mirror down there using a bright flashlight so you can see it better, or better yet a borescope camera. My guess is it is a piston ring mark from setting awhile.

I’ll try to get better photos later, I had to resize these and it messed
with the quality. I would think Magnafluxing should be able to tell for
certain if it’s cracked
