Hi everyone just thought I would share my latest project! Have very little background info other then purchased it in Virginia previous owner bought it in Maryland from a dealer 20 years ago. Serial number tag displays a stock number so not sure on the year. Most of these I have seen in the past have been the heavy fendered version for military use.

Nice VAIW,, that is not the serial tag that would have been on the dash below the amp gauge.. the 1000 lb cast rear fenders were not just a Military thing these were used at many air ports train stations and factories the stock number may mean a few things,, but my guess is Case was the first owner and used at a plant possibly or if a Military sold unit that would have been a spec # for Case to build it by how they wanted it built as well as the military to know what parts list to look for

I am not familiar with this model, but drove a lot of baggage tugs 1969-75 with North Central Airlines. Newer ones were made by a company called TUG but we had a lot of the older ones Army surplus I am guessing. They all had cast iron rear fenders about 2" think in order to be able to pull 4 carts with about 200 bags in them. On all of those, fenders and running boards were all cast together.

I looked at a picture on the internet of another VAIW and it did not have a serial number tag under the gauges either. No screw holes in the dash where one may have been mounted.

I have a VAIW it has two tags every one I have seen I think around a dozen all had serial tags,, just like every VA Series came with new,, just how CASE did things may the holes have been painted over

Nice find. To me it looks like someone took the sheet metal from a regular VAC and put it on your tractor. Still a cool find. This is mine that I restored a few years ago. Keep posted on your progress with it.

Did a VAIW have a "pto" ?? I have seen several and never seen any with a pto on them .. i'll try and get
a picture of mind , it's a " exp " model ..

I do not see why it could not have been added on them if ordered as I think mine has a block off plate where it would go but I have never seen one with pto
