Case VAC Distributor

Working on a 1948 VAC, Autolite distributor IAD6003 2B. Looking for a rebuild, most show 2F and 2J. The question is, will those work for the 2B? Are those last two digits just small design changes? The parts manual shows part VTA2758. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
 
Distributor IAD6003-2F is Case p/n VTA2758 used on VA & 400B tractors and maybe others. Distributor IAD6003-2J is Case p/n
G11051 used on 300 & 300B tractors and maybe others.

These distributors are identical except the letter designates the the governor spring part nr. The governor spring dictates
the advance curve. I don't know about the letter B, but assume it has the same function as the afore mentioned IAD6003-2
distributors. Personally I would go ahead and use it on any VA, you probably will not know any difference. I presently am
using the VA distributor 2F on both my 300 & the 311B B/C I was able to buy them new on ebay. I have used the 2J on on my
VAC13.

Thanks for the info and exploded view, Joe. Today I put in a new rotor, points and condenser. Cleaned everything as much as possible without further disassembly, but may need to dig in a little further. Reinstalled it and it works fine except it does not advance with an increase in speed, so I set it with a moderate advanced timing for the time being. It's a project tractor I've been working on since Dec. Just about there!
 
Pic is a 2F but likely it is identical to your 2B except the springs may look a little different. The springs oppose the centrifugal force on the flyweights to advance timing and stabilize the engine rpm.

Moisture is often the corrosion culprit especially if the tractor is outside and not run for an extended period.

Pull the plate, clean moving parts and light lube the flyweight pivots and the slide area on the stop plate. Work it back & forth until every thing moves freely. Springs should be capable of snapping the flyweights back to zero from full advance.
