Will the 300 steering sector PN: G13287 work in a VAC to replace the VAC PN: G10240?

Was looking at that in the parts book today and got to wondering if the VAC could be upgraded.

Thanks.

Assuming later VAC wfe gear G10240 with input worm VT5330 sub A29584 versa 311 3 stud lever G13287 with input cam (worm) G13289.

I have quite a bit of experience with 300 steering and very little with Vac, appears to me to be 2 different animals.

Further I don't consider 300 to be an upgrade over VAC in that area.

Joe, while I am on the subject of 300 steering, I am getting ready to order the seals and gasket for the front pedestal on my 300 narrow front to replace them. I have never done this before and am wondering if I can just remove the 4 bolts from the pedestal and slide the shaft out the bottom or do I need to remove the whole front bolster?

I would like to not have to remove the front bolster if possible. Thanks!

I haven't done any work on the pedestal of a 312 but looks easy enough with good pics in the manual.

No you do not have to pull the bolster. You do need to disconnect/pull the cover and steering lever to get to the adjusting lock nut on the vertical shaft. Once that nut is off you can tap the shaft out the bottom. There are 2 shaft seals upper O4240AB & lower G10689 at the link if it will post. I'll update those seal p/n's if available tomorrow.

Either the site or my computer is too slow to post pics or much text. Just keeps running until it times out. I'll try again tomorrow. I can't get the classic view to do anything.

Joe, I have the parts breakdown and both the new and old PNs for the seals and gaskets. Thank you for the information. At some point I want to get that fixed up so it stops oozing grease/oil down my pedestal.

Ok if you have a Case 300 manual with the adjustment info you're good to go. Also renew the o-ring on the adjustment plug as it can leak out around the screw.
