Case 970 Gas

I?ve asked a few questions before and everyone on here
seems pretty knowledgeable so here it goes. New carb kit,
fresh gas, new batteries, cleaned out bulb and pump. It will
start and run for about 15 seconds really nice and then boom
shuts off. Do I need to rebuild that lift pump or what can I
check next? Thanks for the help.

I would check the fuel outlet at the tank for clogging with debris in he tank, the sediment bowl and strainer, any in line fuel filters and the little screen attached to the inlet fitting on the carburetor.

Could possibly be your fuel cap is not venting. when it stop open cap to see if you have a suction there. had that happen to a tractor years ago. new cap solved it. hope it's something simple like that or one of the other suggestions. rick

check the fuel pump for flow and pressure, at least for flow then you know whats going on. kind of standard procedure on a carb job or tune up.

Good morning, when it dies,is it instant? Are you certain it's fuel? Have you checked for spark when it quits?

I already checked flow and blew everything out. The solenoid on the carb that shuts fuel off had a short I believe. I?ll comment back if that?s not the problem. Thanks fellas!

Not sure if You need delivery pressure from a pump so this may not work ,,. You could hang a gallon can above the hood or cab and run a hose to the carburator. This idea served Me well when resurrecting Gravity flow Gassers like the DC and 511.

Shutting down after 15 seconds is pretty fast. When it dies, does it sputter like it is starving for fuel, quit abruptly like the switch was turned off, or labor a bit and then stop instantly like something seized up? Will the engine still spin over with the starter after it quits? If not, could a main bearing be locking up?
