Finishing 300 oil and engine issues

Had this 300 for four years and have been restoring it off and on as time allows. When I bought it, I steered it as the the guy I bought it from sprayed
ether in the carb to keep it running as we loaded it on a trailer. Mr. Haney ( yes there is a Mr. Haney ) commented, at least it runs! Ordered hard to find
parts from John Saeli to finish fixing hydraulic control valve oil leaks. OK here's the question - it has an intake valve that is sticking enough when it's still
cold for it to pop and hic-up a little. I've taken the rocker arm and spring off and spun it with a cordless drill up and down while squirting it with a mixture
of transmission fluid and acetone. It helped a bunch but not a total fix. Amazingly, a compression check shows about 125 psi across all cylinders. Is
there any liquid fix to cure this problem?

Have you checked to see if it's a lifter sticking? I had similar problems with one of my tractors and found I had lots of crud around the lifters and it wasn't letting it drop back down to the cam.

Good possibility, may be able to take a wooden dowel and do a similar treatment to clean it. Hopeing to get it back together today and will check the lifter then. Thanks for the tip.

Is it even remotely possible that the push rod has worn down or the tip broken off. I've never been inside of that Case engine, but the idea just jumped up in my noggin. gobble

I'll check that when I pull the push rod to check the lifter. Wife had to go to town this afternoon so didn't get much done. Thanks for pointing out this possibility.
