The original subject was "Re: 970 gas tractor".

I have a 1970 970 gas power shift. How many of those were made? How rare is it?

pretty rare ,.No doubt they will start up in sub zero weather . They were guzzlers compared to the diesel ,
and, any IHC and the 4020 would start and run betterat 1st start up.. But they could Out drink either the 930 or 970 gasser too . Find a leaded gas outlet and Stick with them . You will be content with the performance of leaded gas ,.. If you have to use e-85 ,..It will do alright . IF ,You shutoff the gas and choke every fume out of the carb before You put it to bed

The carb is getting rebuilt to brand new status right now. I just wondered how rare they were. I?ve seen numbers as low as under 100 made.

Get a storage tank , and stay with them , Regardless of cost You will be headaches ahead. do not use E-85 unless you are running 20 plus hoursa week ,,. Even then You will have evaporation issues on very hot days and funky starting issues .
